Ms. Nelson is the BSAP Secondary Achievement Liaison at Wilde Lake Middle School. BSAP stands for Black Student Achievement Program. It also stands for Be Successful And Proud! The mission of the BSAP is to promote and encourage the achievement of African American students in Howard County Public Schools.
The 6 P's to excellence are: prompt, productive, persistent, polite, prepared and PROUD. Ms. Nelson works to promote these values through her work with all students at WLMS.
The goals of BSAP are to:
eliminate disparities in the academic achievement of African American students
foster career exploration
nurture cultural pride and awareness
encourage personal and social growth
What do Secondary Achievement Liaisons do in our schools? They:
cultivate study skills, problem solving skills, time management and organization
communicate regularly with principals and staff to monitor and support the progress of ALL African American students
collaborate with parents in support of student achievement
meet regularly with guidance counselors and/or resource teachers
provide 1 on 1 mentoring for many students
